As a leader in our local business community, you understand the importance of strong, informed leadership in shaping the communities we live and work in. At the Red Deer District Chamber, we believe that the same entrepreneurial spirit, commitment to growth, and results-driven mindset that defines our business community can, and should, be brought to the council chambers of both the City of Red Deer and Red Deer County. That’s why we’re pleased to invite you to a special Information Session and panel discussion on Public Service, hosted in collaboration with Alberta Municipalities.
This session is designed for local leaders like you, people who care deeply about the future of our region and may be curious about stepping into public service. You’ll hear directly from our panel of seasoned elected officials, City of Red Deer Mayor Ken Johnston, Red Deer County Mayor Jim Wood, and Sylvan Lake Mayor Megan Hanson, facilitated by current Alberta Municipalities President and Mayor of the City of Wetaskiwin, Tyler Gandam. Each of these dedicated leaders have walked this path and will share candid insights about what it means to serve, how to prepare for a campaign, and the difference strong leadership can make at the municipal level.
There will also be time for Q&A and networking with other engaged community members.
Whether you’ve always been curious about running for council or simply want to understand more about the process, we hope you’ll join us for this meaningful conversation about leadership, governance, and community impact.
Let’s invest in the future of Red Deer and Red Deer County by inspiring the next generation of municipal leaders - starting with the business community.
